How much do you know about Thomas Sabo? Their story begins in the 1980′s in Bavaria and has developed into the dynamic brand we know today. Thomas Sabo prides themselves on their craftsmanship and attention to fine detail that can be seen in their jewellery collections and Charm Club. Their brand has grown to a have a huge international reach because of both the quality of their product and their involvement with a wide variety of industries from around the word. From featuring North American pop sensation Katy Perry in their marketing campaigns last year to sponsoring some incredibly talented drivers such as British DMT race car driver Gary Paffett.
Thomas Sabo sponsors Gary Paffett’s car along with Mercedes Benz and AMG. With a great start to this year’s new German Touring Car Championship (DTM) 2012 seasons Gary Paffett is continuing to ride on a wave of success. Only one week after his victory in the first race of the season in Hockenheim, Gary Paffett was on the podium again at Eurospeedway Lausitzring placing second. After the second race of the season, Gary Paffett is leading the drivers’ competition with 43 points. The Thomas Sabo / Mercedes Benz Bank AMG team is leading the team competition with 55 points. “In Mercedes-Benz, we have found our dream partner in the most popular international touring car series,” as quoted by Thomas Sabo. We couldn’t agree more!

The summer movie season has started with the first blockbuster of the season, The Avengers, breaking box office records worldwide!
With a lineup like The Dark Knight Rises, The Amazing Spider Man, The Bourne Legacy, Brave & Snow White and the Huntsman just to name a few, there’s more than enough action packed into the next four months to keep us riveted.
We know that Magpie has jewellery to suit the style of the stars, but what about action style?
Jeremy Renner stars as Hawkeye in the Avengers and is Aaron Cross, or the new “Jason Bourne” in the Bourne Legacy. Sporting a silver Pyrrha, this hero shows his no-nonsense style.

Ottawa Tulip Festival

The Ottawa Tulip Festival, the largest tulip festival in the world is officially underway here in Ottawa and runs until May 21.
There are currently over 1 million tulips in bloom around Ottawa and these blooms are responsible for the over 500, 000 visitors that come to admire them every year. Now here is a question for you, do you know where all the tulips came from?
In 1945, the Dutch royal family sent 100,000 tulip bulbs to Ottawa to thank Canadians having for having sheltered Princess Juliana and her daughters during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands, in the Second World War.
During their time in Canada Princess Julianna gave birth to Princess Margriet at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. The maternity ward was declared to be officially a temporary part of international territory, so that she would be born in no country and would inherit only her Dutch citizenship from her mother. In 1946, Juliana sent another 20,500 bulbs requesting that a display be created for the hospital, and promised to send 10,000 more bulbs each year.
In the years following Queen Juliana’s original donation, Ottawa became famous for its tulips and in 1953 the Ottawa Board of Trade and photographer Malak Karsh organized the first “Canadian Tulip Festival”. Queen Juliana returned to celebrate the festival in 1967, and Princess Margriet returned in 2002 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the festival. (Wikipedia)
Flowers seem to be popping up everywhere including in a lot of summer prints for denim, fabrics, shoes, nails and of course accessories this season.
